Learn More About the ActiveX Installer

When you are downloading things from the Internet, you will often need the ActiveX Installer to complete the download. For example, if you want a calendar you might be required to download the ActiveX control for that calendar. If you need a spreadsheet, you might need to download the ActiveX. So you see, ActiveX becomes a very important feature on the Internet. The ActiveX Installer lets you install an ActiveX control and that ActiveX control lets you use all sorts of features.

ActiveX is the primary control employed by Microsoft and was previously called the OCX control. They are inserted directly into your Internet's browser and you use them when running applications within a website.

If you have the ActiveX Installer, look at the top of the dialogue box. You will see a menu of all the available controls located in the Windows Database. Decide which one you want to install on your computer. If you don't see the one that you want, you will have to automatically install it in Windows. To do this you can easily employ an ActiveX Control Tester. For more information visit Microsoft.

The following ActiveX installer options may be used:

  • Insert a scenario, a scenario class or a UI agent
  • Convert (VARIANT, BSTR, Broker)
  • Compel the use of Invoke

1. Insert a scenario, a scenario class or a UI agent:

There are two distinct approaches to the ActiveX Installer:

  • Scenario:
Add a scenario that sums up the recently installed control.
  • Scenario class or a UI agent:
Add a scenario class and a UI agent class on your own.

Once you decide on an ActiveX control and once you have downloaded it, you can go ahead and install it. The entries that you highlighted will be generated automatically. You will receive a message notifying you of the completed installation. Now you can utilize the scenario that you generated and you have the ActiveX control at your disposal.

2. Convert (VARIANT, BSTR, Broker):

The ActiveX Installer will automatically try to change your selections. If you uncheck your selections, you can adjust them.

3. Compel The Use of Invoke:

This function is necessary when you attempt to install ActiveX Controls that should be performed in scenarios on the Internet. The procedures are executed via the ActiveX interface.
