Learn More About ActiveX Video Codec

What is an ActiveX Video Codec? Basically it permits videos to be compressed and decompressed in order to produce digital videos. "Lossy data compression" is used to compress the files in order to store video in digital format, as opposed to the more archaic formats of magnetic tape and analog signal. Now videos are saved on compact disc and technologies continue to develop. Because video and audio data require distinctive compression formats, ActiveX Video Codec is used.

Design:

ActiveX Video Codec transmits analog information in a digital format. Analog information is transmitted separately. For example, it communicates color and luma data distinctively and, thus, when you compress an analog image into digital format the ActiveX Video Codec will transmit and save the image in the YCbCr color space. The two advantages to this are optimized compression and distinct luma transmissions.

There is a standard ActiveX Video Codec design; it has to be consistent so as to allow interaction. Programmers may create an encoder, however they like because the encoding procedure is unspecified. As such, depending on the programmer, the video quality can differ significantly.

Counterfeit ActiveX Video Codec:

ActiveX Video Codec is widely used and, as such, it has fallen victim to specialized viruses that try to attack it and imitate it. Fraudulent versions of ActiveX Video Codec are called "Video ActiveX Codec" and it can be hard to tell the real from the false. You only really know that you downloaded a fake version once it is installed and it's not letting you watch videos. Instead it's probably starting to corrupt your operating system or spying on you. One way to tell that you have a fake version is from the system alerts that you receive. Some virus versions of ActiveX Video Codec will issue system alerts that tell you the computer is contaminated with "Networm-i.Virus@fp" or "Trojan-Spy.Win32@mx". They usually suggest another fake program – a counterfeit anti-virus program – for you to use. This program is a waste of money and, if it does anything, will only make the problem worse!
