Fixing Hotmail Problems
Hotmail is an Internet-based email program that is free to set-up and use. Hotmail is operated by Microsoft as part of its Windows Live group. It is currently the most popular web-based e-mail service available. Hotmail is available via all Internet browsers and in many different languages.
Hotmail has many convenient and enjoyable features including:
Audio Player: The Hotmail audio player is able to play MP3 audio clips and voicemails once it scans those files for viruses.
Integration: It conveniently integrates with other Windows Live services.
Reading Pane: Hotmail was aesthetically redesigned to look more like Microsoft Outlook. You can read emails and see your inbox at the same time.
Security: Hotmail security features include Windows Live OneCare virus scanning, SMTP Authentication and SenderID.
Spell Checker: Hotmail will check your spelling as you type your email and will underline misspelled words in red. If you right click on an underlined word, Hotmail will give you a list of alternatives.
Themes: You can choose from a variety of Microsoft Live themes in order to customize Hotmail to your liking.
Hotmail is very simple to use and if you do run into any problems, you can easily fix them yourself. Below are some common solutions to most Hotmail problems:
- Try logging in to Hotmail at https://login.live.com.
- Clean out your web browser's cache.
- Clean out your cookies and ensure that they are enabled.
- Make sure you have the most recent version of Adobe Flash Player.
- Re-fresh your web browser. Once you have logged in again, hit "Control" and then F5 on your keyboard.
- Instead of using Internet Explorer, try using Mozilla Firefox as your web browser. You can download Mozilla for free from their website.
- Make sure that your anti-virus and anti-spyware software are up-to-date. If you don't already have anti-spyware software you should download and install it. Search the Internet for a good version of the software.
- If you have other security programs installed on your computer, you should consider downloading the newest versions. If you already have the latest version, try reinstalling it.
- Make sure that the security and privacy settings on your Internet browser are set to default.
- If you're still using Internet Explorer as your web browser, make sure you are using the latest version. If not, you can easily download and install the most up-to-date version from the IE website. Once you have installed the latest version, try logging in to Hotmail.
- Try using the OpenDNS servers as well as the DNS Servers from the Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
- Hotmail experiences its own problems. In this case, just wait and try again later.
- And finally, the last resort is always shutting your computer down and rebooting.
