Fixing Outlook Express Errors

Most people are familiar with Outlook Express but some people don't know what it is. Outlook Express is an email program. The email service is very easy to use but you can still encounter problems or errors if it's not configured properly.

If you have tried fixing your Outlook Express errors with the basic resolution tools but are still encountering email errors you may need to take a more serious approach. Luckily, you don't need to hire an expert to get the job done; it's very easy to fix Outlook Express errors yourself.

Outlook Express "Library" files execute a number of different functions. They are responsible for Outlook's appearance but they are also shared with other programs and employed for configuring more advanced functions in some email messages. Library files are also involved in displaying images and videos and in opening up links that are included in emails.

Outlook Express Entries:

Sometimes you may need to reinstall particular files that are causing problems with your Outlook Express. This is an easy process if you follow the instructions below:

  1. Select the "Start" menu and then hit "Run."
  2. A text box will appear. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll into the box and then press "OK."
  3. Complete these actions for all of the following files: regsvr32 msjava.dll; regsvr32 browseui.dll; regsvr32 shdocvw.dll and regsvr32 mshtml.dll.

If you encounter problems when replying to an email or when trying to send an email via an email link on a website (For example, the email address itself is causing an error to occur) it might be due to your Outlook's registry entries. If these entries are corrupted then your computer may not be detecting the email address as legitimate. This can be resolved by reconfiguring your Outlook's Windows Database entries.

How To Fix Outlook's Windows Database Entries:

  1. Select the "Start" menu and then hit "Run."
  2. A text box will appear. Type msimn/reg into the box and then press "OK."
  3. Open a web browser and select "Tools" and then "Options."
  4. Select "Programs" and then ensure that Outlook Express is the default.

General Registry Repair

If you try all of the above yet you are still encountering problems with Outlook Express then you might have to download and reinstall the entire program again. Before you do this, however, you can try one last thing. You might be experiencing registry errors due to some unknown relationship between your Windows Database and files in other parts of your computer. This occurs when files become fragmented or damaged. You can check the broad database files by using a specific PC cleaning and optimization applications. This will make sure that files are cleaned up and that damaged files are repaired.
