How to Get Rid of Bloatware
There's a funny name for software that you don't need or want – it's called "bloatware." This software leaves your computer bloated with unnecessary files and programs and causes it to not operate as efficiently as it should. These excess programs utilize key resources and slow your computer down. A slow computer can be very frustrating so it's a good idea to address this problem. That being said, uninstalling a program is not always as easy as it looks. You might not know which steps to take. Even if you do, you can sometimes fail to uninstall the program completely. If you don't do it properly, files will remain on your computer and continue to clutter up your Windows Database, which stores data about your hardware, software, user profiles and settings.
If your computer is acting sluggishly and you want to remove unwanted programs from your operating system, follow these steps:
Step 1: Disable the "User Account Control"
The "User Account Control" is put in place in order to prevent you from executing any potentially hazardous actions. If you are about to do something risky it will ask you if you are sure you want to do it. This is definitely a good feature to have enabled most of the time. However, if you are about to clean your computer then you might want to disable it, otherwise it's going to be asking you to verify all your actions and it will get annoying.
Follow the instructions below to disable the "User Account Control":
- In the Start menu select the "User Icon."
- When the "User Account Settings" open uncheck the box beside "Turn User Account Control On or Off."
- Hit "OK" and exit.
Step 2: Download a Good Software Uninstaller
There are programs available online that will properly uninstall any unnecessary program from your computer for you. All you have to do is download and install the program and it will take care of the rest.
Step 3: Launch the Uninstaller Software
Whatever third-party software you choose, open it up and select the application that you would like to uninstall. It will ask you to verify this action. Next, click on "Advanced Uninstal.l. If you are in a rush or you aren't confident about uninstalling the program you should select "Safe" instead.
Step 4: Double Check the Uninstalled Programs
Most uninstall programs will show you a list of all the software and applications that you have selected to uninstall. Double-check the list to make sure you aren't removing anything that you need or want.
Step 5: Reverse
Once you are finished, you should turn "User Account Control" back on.
