Increase Your Windows Boot Time

If your Windows operating system is taking a while to load, you may want to consider making some adjustments. It can be incredibly frustrating, especially if you work on a computer, when you have to wait a long time for your computer to boot up. You don't have to wait, however. You can make a few adjustments to the System BIOS and your Windows operating system will load much more quickly. Unfortunately, this can be a complex process and you don't want to make a mistake. Below are some instructions on how to execute these modifications.

Modify the System BIOS

First of all, you should know what the System BIOS is before you make adjustments to it. "BIOS" is a series of directions that are embedded in the operating system. BIOS scans the hardware that is associated with the operating system and then decides how to network with that hardware.

Second, you will need to gain entrance into the setup screen in order to conduct any modifications. If you're going to attempt to adjust the BIOS you need to be very careful. If you make a mistake it can significantly harm your computer. If you are confident that you can make these modifications without making any mistakes, then proceed with the instructions below.

  1. Shut your computer down and then restart it.
  2. Open the BIOS screen.
  3. Open the Start menu in BIOS. To navigate, use the arrow and tab keys on your keyboard.
  4. You should see an option for "Quick Boot." Enable it.
  5. Reconfigure the "boot device" to act as the hard drive. This will increase the speed of the reboot. However, it won't allow the PC to reboot from a floppy disk or CD-ROM. If you use anything besides the hard drive to boot your computer then do not complete this step.
  6. Exit, save all changes and then start your system.
