What Is Runtime Error 75 and How To Fix It
A runtime error usually takes place when using Windows and it can affect both early and late versions of the Windows operating system. If you are in Windows 95, the "open for binary" command won't function if the control is set to "share level access." If this is the case, you will see the following error message: Runtime error 75: Path/File access error.
Runtime Error 75 – Causes:
If you experience Runtime Error 75, it is most likely because you are working on the Windows 95 operating system. You can easily resolve this error on your own:
- Go to the shared resource and change the "Access Permission" to "Full Control."
- Modify the user-level access when Windows 95 is running in a NT domain.
- To launch the "read-only shared resource" you should employ the Win32 API.
Runtime Error 75 – Microsoft Excel:
Runtime Error 75 is usually limited to Windows 95, but sometimes it will occur in other versions. It can happen in versions that include the Excel 2000 Standard Edition. An error will sometimes occur in a situation where the Visual Basic for Applications macros tries to use the "Name Statement". The error would appear as: "Path/File access error." The reasons for this are well known: the user tried to rename a directory with the "Name Statement" or the user attempted to edit a directory which contained a file with the same value as the "Dir" function. If you do not tell the computer which program you are trying to run it limits the effectiveness of troubleshooting.
To best fix the problem, shut down your computer and reboot. To execute a clean reboot go to the Start menu. Select "Search" and type in msconfig. Next, hit "Enter." If you are asked for a password, enter your administrator password now. Otherwise, hit "Continue" and follow these instructions:
- Choose the "General" tab and then click on "Selective Startup."
- Just below Selective Startup you will see "Load Startup Items." Make sure that the corresponding box is unchecked.
- Next, select the "Services" tab and make sure that the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box is checked and then hit "Disable All."
- To finish, hit "OK."
You will receive a notification. When you do, shut down your computer and then reboot. Once your computer has restarted, trying running the program and see if you encounter the error again.
