What Are Windows Error Codes and How Can You Fix Them



Most people encounter errors when operating Windows. That doesn't make it any less frustrating, however. The most important information that you can use is how to fix them. Below are a few common error and the methods for resolving common Windows errors:

  • If you receive a "Connection Successful" error message you do not need to do anything.

  • If you receive a "System Cannot Find Specified File" notification you will need to reinstall DUN and NCP.

  • For an "Access Denied" error message you will need to:

    1. Login with the correct username and password.
    2. Confirm that clear text is enabled and confirm that the selection recognizes any confirmation.

  • If you receive an "Invalid Procedure Call" you will need to ensure that your network and dial-up parts are reinstalled correctly.

  • If you encounter a "Stack Overflow" you will have to follow these instructions:

    1. Try rebooting your computer (when you shut it off, let it sit for a minute before rebooting).
    2. If the reboot isn't successful then the problem might be with your RAM (Random Access Memory).

  • If you see a "System Cannot Find the Specific Device" error message you should complete the following steps:

    1. Double-check to make sure your modem matches your system requirements.
    2. Reinstall and see if that helps.

  • If the message you receive says "No More Connection is Allowed" then you should follow these instructions:

    1. Another computer was probably connected to your Internet.
    2. Your ISP might have moved your clone off of the program (if you were cloned on the server).

  • If you receive the "Invalid Proper Value" error message you should complete these steps:

    1. Your automatic dial-up must be "Automatic Dial."
    2. Try to reinstall the dialer.

  • If you are notified that the "Operation is Pending" try the following:

    1. Reboot your computer.
    2. Make sure no other programs are utilizing your modem.
    3. Select Control, Alt and Delete all at the same time. If the RNAAPP launches then you must call a computer specialist to fix this problem.
    4. Run your anti-spyware and anti-virus software.

  • If you experience the "Port Handle is Invalid" error you should try the following:

    1. Select your modem's COM port.
    2. In the "Diagnostic" section select "More Info."
    3. If you are getting replies then reboot your computer (remove the init string or type "ATZ" as the init).
    4. Reinstall your modem and dial-up networking again.
    5. Make sure your modem is not broken.

  • For the "Port is Already Open" error, trying following these directions:

    1. Reboot your system.
    2. Make sure that no other programs are utilizing your modem.
    3. Open the "Network Control Panel" and remove the AOL adapters.
    4. Reboot your system and then reinstall the adapters.
